- Prepare to install a server
- Prepare for work in line with site specific safety requirements and enterprise occupational health and safety (OHS) processes and procedures
- Notify customer to arrange access to site
- Obtain server applications and features from appropriate person
- Choose the most suitable server with reference to required server application and server features
- Choose the most suitable network operating system features with reference to required server solution and technical requirements
- Provide alternative server solutions with reference to required server application and server features
- Review required installation options
- Analyse data migration requirements
- Apply backup and recovery requirements with reference to organisational policy
- Analyse education and training requirements for support staff and in line with client, requirements and relevant enterprise policies
- Create and document a deployment plan
- Advise user group of deployment and potential down times
- Install and configure the server
- Backup and restore local data in preparation for installation
- Install and configure the server as required by technical requirements and functional specifications
- Install and undertake configuration activities using relevant operating system and application upgrades
- Reconnect and reconfigure relevant connectivity devices
- Test the server and reconfigure the network
- Complete documentation and clean up work site
